No Admittance

No Admittance – February 19, 2011 – West Chester, PA
I was shooting photos around an abandoned estate when I happened upon a gate that was locked. This was a very heavy chain and fairly large padlock and it was clear that it hadn’t been touched in years. So there was at once a feeling of security yet at the same time, a sense of forboding. As if I wasn’t sure if the gate was to keep something out or to keep something in. From a technical standpoint, while some of the chain is hopelessly overexposed, I do like the way that the direct sunlight just touch the edges of the lock.
